It's Like A Death

So a friend of mine has been more and more vocal lately about his rebellion against God.  This man was raised a Mennonite (tons of Mennos here, that's the mainstream Evangelical flavor of the community), went to Christian school, attended every church-sponsored activity that existed.  This man has been running further and further from God for years.  Now he has it in his head that if he wants to talk smack about God no one should be offended.  It is apparently ok to get mad but not offended.  I have no idea what that means or where the difference is supposed to lie.  This man used to be one of my best friends.  Lately, his belligerence and hatred of Christian things have driven a huge wedge between us.  He used to ask questions.  Now he makes statements.  And they aren't statements any Christian wants to hear.  Even our friends who aren't Christians are uncomfortable with many of the things he says.  Even they aren't willing to go so far in their rebellion as he is.  I suppose I need to dedicate myself to pray for him more diligently.  Talking only seems to make him worse.  My friend has left me, but his body is still walking around.

thieves who break in to steal and destroy :-(

I was saddened to read today that thieves broke into the AOMin studios on Dr. James White's blog
Please pray for encouragement for him, and if you are able, please consider donating to the ministry to cover these unforeseen costs as well as the regular day-to-day price of running a small and not-always-so-popular ministry. Thanks to JM and Cent for mentioning this today also.

Where has the summer gone?

Man, I thought school just got out and here it is back to school next week! I'm getting a little freaked. I'm the new PAC (Parent Advisory Council...used to be the PTA) Prez at my kids' school and WOW! I'm a little freaked! Anyway, going camping in Hope this weekend. Getting sneak previews of Dr. James R. White's new book "Pulpit Crimes" in the chat channel which is really awesome! Called in to a New York radio station this week on the show "Iron Sharpens Iron" hosted by Chris Arnzen which was nerve-wracking but fun. :-) Hmmm what else. I've been learning how to be a better counselor to others this summer. It seems like almost everyone I know has been through one crisis or another and God has been teaching me how to help people in a better way through this. OK I'm sorta distracted right now, maybe I'll get off another blog post soon....or not LOL! CARLA, IF YOU READ THIS, DROP ME A LINE!!! :-)
